French All The Seams.

French All The Seams is about slowing down, finding sustainable and lasting materials, and crafting made to measure, customized commisioned pieces using couture sewing techniques that will live with the wearer for generations. It’s about re-introducing the art of hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind pieces for the every day or that very special day.

In these days of fast-fashion and “ready to wear” that deteriorates our mind's fascination, come and enjoy the magical moments of designing and appreciating each step of a custom experience…and get to know your maker!

Sourcing materials… Be it a dusty, red-clay fabric market in Ouagadougou, sunny vintage markets in Paris, or a shoemaker’s alley-way shop in Genoa, I shop and collect valuable materials (new and old) in every trip I take. Locally, I shop re-sale stores and curate from my own private “nothing goes to waste” stash of heirloom notions and supply. Friends and family contribute regularly to this collection, and I am deeply grateful that I can pass along these treasures to future generations.

Sewing.

Sewing has been both a passion and a trade in my family for three generations. I am grateful for my grandmother and my mom for passing it along to me. The stories of these women have inspired me to now write my own story…but first allow me to share theirs:

My Grandma, Virginia Rose… A woman who spent a lifetime in the fashion industry. One of the best memories still alive today is from her time as a designer for Frances Gee Garment Company in Kansas City, Missouri where she designed the Burger King uniforms in the late 60’s into the early 70’s which were then sold all across the country. But she was more than just a designer. She raised 11 sons and daughters on a shoe-string budget, and one those kids became my father who married an amazing woman named Nancy.

My Mom, Nancy C. Rose…An amazing seamstress who first began to sew out of necessity because she couldn’t find clothes that fit her slender and tall frame. She entered contests for her work early on and nearly won them all. One story in particular that has always stayed with me is where she and another gal used the exact same pattern, same fabric, had identical construction execution aside from one. small. detail—clipping the threads! I often recall this story and it is one of the reasons why I’ve named my business, French All The Seams.

The French Seam.

The French seam…This is a seam that goes the extra-mile to complete a garment or accessory and in my opinion, allows both sides of the piece to look polished and beautiful. Metaphorically, this is what I want you as a customer to see about your unique beauty—inside and out. God has created us out of His radiance and I enjoy going the extra mile to customize a piece that reflects your splendor and personality.
